Challenge 

Design 3 hot sauce labels for the brand Merit, a hot sauce company that focuses on creating unique, artisanal hot sauces using innovative chili pepper combinations. Every batch of hot sauce is made with balancing heat, flavor, and quality in mind. Merit emphasizes demonstrated craft and skill.

 

Key Message: Ingredients selected for their demonstrated quality and authentic origins. Emphasize that premium, natural sourcing isn’t a trend—it’s a standard backed by transparency and traceable excellence. Quality you can verify.

Solution

For my label design I took some inspiration from botanical posters where they they show off not just the peppers of the plant but the plant as a whole. I thought showing off the plant as a whole would help give a nod to Merit’s brand message of quality and authentic origins. My choice of colors was pulled from my research on what each of the pepper’s used in the ingredients looked like and their common coloration. For the paper of my labels I wanted the audience to notice the paper quality. This was achieved through creamy flecked paper to add a handcraften look.
